A Kaleidoscope of Unimportant People
Daphna Weinstein is an interdisciplinary artist working predominantly within, the area of graphic art and installations, her work is both conceptual and poetic. Using everyday materials as objects of interest and as a mark making device. In this way a knife is an object for a still life but also a means to draw soldiers. In her work, she debates themes regarding psychological and social issues such as the difficulty of banality, after politics and the fragility of existence. Often presenting a well-crafted and what seems, an aesthetically perfectionist image, only to allure the viewer to a trap, of a down-spiral kafkaesque overthinking. Weinstein has exhibited in several spaces in Germany, France, and Austria. She participated in the Steirischer Herbst Festival in Graz, and in the International Biennale for Young Art in Moscow. She was a finalist at the Art Laguna Prize in the Arsenal in Venice. At the Festival ofRegions, Upper Austria, she occupied the KZ memorial tunnel with a large scale installation “Ahammm - A Choir of Breathing Jars”, 2015
