MR. CATMAN
Lara Oreskovic, born in Zagreb, is an artist who has followed her restless and curious nature around the world since her university days. She has traveled and lived in Spain, Denmark, and Canada, but she found her home in Italy. In Bologna, she opened a studio-gallery and continued her artistic exploration, developing her own technique. She transitioned from a figurative phase to abstraction, but her worldview led her to immerse herself in thoughts on surreal reality. In addition to canvas and other supports, brushes, and colours, she always has the tools of a
true master at hand, such as a drill, soldering iron, hot air gun, manual or electric spot welder, and flame, among others. Large format supports serve as backdrops for her painting-installations and sculptures of three-dimensional creatures molded from various natural and recycled materials, including paper, fabric, metal, and wood. Recycled newspaper paper is the ideal medium for inspiration and creative expression. She crumples it, glues it, sculpts sculptures, bakes and burns them. When exhibited, these intriguing compositions reveal nothing of their origin. Her works can be found in the United States, Spain, Canada, Denmark, England, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Croatia. Additionally, she creates digital illustrations and visual identities for theatrical performances and stage elements. Sheresides in Trieste.
