Curated by Riccardo Rizzetto, STORIES AS FORMS is part of interferences Public Programme of the V Biennale Internazionale Donna, Stories as Forms unfolds within A Library for the Time Being, the Biennale’s Ephemeral Library.
This temporary exhibition presents a selection of ceramics by the women artisans of Sejnane (Tunisia), where the knowledge of shaping clay has been transmitted across generations and recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Developed in collaboration with Malles Design Mediterraneo, the exhibition brings together works in which clay, memory and imagination meet through gesture. These forms do not simply represent stories: they are shaped by them, carrying within their surfaces traces of lived experience.
In contrast to the reduction of narratives into consumable formats, the works engage with narration as a process that unfolds over time, where knowledge is sedimented in matter and transmitted through the hands.
Each vessel is accompanied by the story of the woman who made it, transforming the space of the library into a temporary archive where stories are not stored as texts but take form as matter.
By supporting this initiative, you can receive these ceramics, with all funds going to the women artisans of Sejnane via the non-profit association Malles Design Mediterraneo
